The COVID GAMBIT 2026 is a community event raising funds in support of the Osler Foundation. Our medium is CHESS!
This year's event will take place on March 6th, 7th and 8th at the Mayor Susan Fennel Auditorium at Brampton Civic Hospital.
The COVID GAMBIT fundraising chess tournament marks the anniversary of the first pandemic lockdown in Ontario, March of 2020.
This will be the fourth year of the COVID GAMBIT. In our first year 2022 the event was held online due to pandemic restrictions. The event was held in person after the end of the pandemic in 2023 and 2024 in the Mayor Susan Fennell Auditorium; a COVID battleground where thousands of COVID immunizations were given to stop the spread of the virus.
For serious and professional players we are hosting a Swiss System with Time Control G/90 min + 30 sec increment, CFC or FIDE rated tournament.
For the Osler community we are also hosting an informal rapid game (15 minutes) time control tournament.

In Ontario, 100% of hospital equipment must be funded by the community. A donation—big or small—will score a win for Osler’s hospitals. All donations made through this page will receive a charitable tax receipt automatically.
