Story of the COVID GAMBIT
March 2022, during the late COVID 19 surges, Dr. Cooper hosted a chess tournament (THE COVID GAMBIT) to mark the second anniversary of the Provincial Lockdown. The William Osler community donated over $ 3 900 to support the purchase of state-of-the-art Braun Perfusor infusion pumps for the Department of Anesthesia. This great result happened even though the participants were not allowed to play in person and the event was held entirely online!
The following year, COVID GAMBIT 2023 was held live, in person, right where our community bared arms for vaccination in the BCH Auditorium to defeat COVID -19. The in-person event raised $ 1 900 in support of Mental Health programs at William Osler.
This year Dr. Cooper and William Osler Foundation invite you to play, watch or donate as we continue the tradition of the COVID GAMBIT and our community continues to subdue COVID 19.
This year we are pleased to welcome Dr Teresa Chan , Dean of Medicine, Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr Chan will open the event with a special address to the players and William Osler community.
